  • Montenegro is open to visit. As a foreign diplomat it is possible to enter and reside in the Republic of Montenegro with a diplomatic or official passport. The entry documents are not required for you, members of your family and persons who stay with you in Montenegro.

According to Article 35 of the Law on Foreigners, Montenegro may grant a long-stay visa (which is usually for six months) to foreigners who intend to stay in Montenegro more than three months.

Montenegro Transit (B) Visa

  • A valid visa to the destination country
    • If the applicant can enter the third country without being required to obtain a visa:
    • Documents confirming that he/she is seeking to enter the country for a specific purpose, e.g.
    • Invitation
    • Hotel booking
    • Real estate documents and other paperwork at the country of destination
    • Furthermore, applicants should provide financial documents to prove that they have sufficient resources to pay for their visit (such as bank statements and proof of employment).
  • If your country of residence and citizenship are different, you will need to submit copies of both IDs.
    • If you are not a citizen of Montenegro and intend to stay in the country for more than three months, your host (sponsor) must apply for a residence permit on your behalf. The granting of this permit is subject to additional conditions and cannot exceed three years.

Montenegro Airport Transit visa (A) is available to foreigners entering the country solely for a stopover at its airport, where they will not enter the territory. The A visa has validity of up to 3 months and covers one or several transit through international airport area between flights from/to other countries with no entry into Montenegro territory

A foreigner who remains in the international transit area of a Montenegro airport or on an international flight will not require a visa.

The Government of Montenegro may, for reasons relating to national security and legal order, require citizens of certain countries to have an Airport Transit visa before passing through passport control at the airport.
